Cast your mind back a couple of months and it's fair to say things were looking far from rosy at St. Mary's. A brand new manager unable to hold on to his players and Liverpool waiting in the wings to pick away at the carcass. It's late October now and how times have changed. Southampton sit comfortably in third, with their new signings having kicked straight into gear, while Liverpool's imports from the south coast have done anything but.
Obviously this doesn't mean that Southampton have necessarily traded up, but their ability to bounce back from such a tumultuous summer has been absolutely remarkable.
