5 Things We Learned About Matt Doherty's Bromance With Kane And Dier

Over the summer we learned that Spurs seem to be in a relatively good space football wise. They are coming off the back of a successful end to their 2021/22 Premier League campaign, where they beat out bitter rivals Arsenal to a Champions League spot, while pre-season has been a success with promising performances and new signings.

We also learned a lot about the budding bromance between Spurs stars Matt Doherty, Eric Dier, and Harry Kane. From Dier's Instagram we could tell that three lads had a strong bond, Dier and Doherty in particular, and a new article by The Athletic's Charlie Eccleshare has delved into their relationships, revealing their quirks, interests, and obsession with rating everything.

Doherty Has A Bad Taste In Movies

One of the Spurs trios' favourite past times is to watch movies in each rooms the night before a match day, and rate them.

A paragraph from Eccleshare's article highlight's how invested they are in their little tradition.

The trio rotate who picks the movie each week, and the rule is that two of the three can’t have seen it before. As he’s explaining this, Doherty grabs his phone to consult a note which lists every film they’ve watched together — as well as who picked it, and the ratings it received.

However, we also found out about the questionable movie taste of Matt Doherty, who referred to two excellent and critically acclaimed movies, Uncut Gems and Mad Max (we presume its Fury Road), as "horrendous."

Penchant For Questionable Hairdos

The three Spurs lads have also been rating each others hairstyles, which began after Eric Dier posted an Instagram story of himself rating Doherty's goatee.

This lead to fans posting photos of old hairdos to rate, which included a dodgy shaved 'v' look from Dier, and Doherty with an objectively shocking mullet while playing with the Ireland U15s.

Their Love For Other Sports

Golf is one of their favourite hobbies, and all three play to a high level. Kane is off scratch, while Doherty and Dier play to six and eight respectively.

Dier is also a self-confessed Rafael Nadal stan, and commented that, "the nice thing about the first week of pre-season is Wimbledon’s always on, so you train, watch Wimbledon, train, watch Wimbledon.”

Rating Stuff

It is clear from the first-half of this article that the three men like to rate things. This began with Dier's love for the popular Dave Portnoy 'One Bite' Pizza Reviews on YouTube. The trio also featured in one of Portnoy's latest review videos during his trip to London.

Genuinely Good Blokes

While it is not hard to find unpleasant Premier League players who thrive on posting cringey tiktok videos, or engaging in lowbrow banter, the Spurs trio of Dier, Doherty, and Kane, come across as extremely likeable lads.

We can see this from their video with Portnoy, and their group activities, where it shows that they are comfortable with themselves and not afraid to show off their nerdy side.
