One of the greatest scourges of modern sports stadiums is the piped-in music used to generate atmosphere every time there's a score or for other breaks in play.

After a big weekend at the Aviva, one fan, going under the name of Captain Luscious Redbeard, wrote to us to inform us that he has had enough. Describing the music as 'undignified', he has set up a new Facebook page calling on the powers that be to 'Stop playing music at the Aviva Stadium'.

Over 200 people have liked the page since Sunday, agreeing with the page description, which reads: 'We, the undersigned, have had enough of the Aviva's atmosphere killing music. "Walk this way"? Go away! Stop with the cheesy, cringy awful sh*te!'

For whatever reason, fans are no longer trusted to get excited and make noise by themselves and are instead being drowned out by the music.

Here's an example from the Ireland-Australia game on Saturday, along with the stadium announcer's slight over-excitement about Brian O'Driscoll's return to the pitch.
