The Under-17 European Championships have been notable for a couple of reasons, both local and universal.
Ireland made the knockout stages despite a 7-0 defeat to Germany in the group stages, going through despite collecting just three points from nine, and finishing with the group's worst Goal Difference.
The competition has also seen some experimentation with penalty shoot-outs, with a new format adopted. Rather than the traditional set-up of each nation taking turns, in an ABABAB format, it's been tweaked so that the team that take the second penalty also take the third, meaning the format is actually ABBAAB.
Journalist Ben Lyttelton dedicated a book called Twelve Yards to penalties and shoot-outs, and worked out that the side that goes first wins 60% of the time, so this new format should do something to reduce the advantage of the side who takes the first penalty.
Tonight's semi-final between Germany and Spain went to a shoot-out, and that new format came into effect.
Spain went first, and you can watch it in full below:
Spain will face England, yep, England, in the final.
