There's a fine line between football clubs acting like berks on social media and actually being funny, and we're pleased to announce that Southampton fall into the latter category where Manchester City were left languishing in the former last week.

The Saints took to Facebook yesterday to announce their Goal Of The Month competition for October and, having scored five goals all month, decided to narrow the pool of potential winners.

As Southampton fans were quick to realise, however, all nominees shared a common theme...

It'll be extremely interesting to see which of the three strikes will take top prize, but the camera angle for Goal B certainly does it a lot of favours. Suffice to say that, regardless of result, Sofiane Boufal will be a happy man driving to training.

Fair play to Southampton for taking the piss out of themselves a bit, as opposed to the Premier League's so-called bigger clubs, some of whom would probably make a mini-documentary set to some gee-up Stormzy tune and offer fans a selection of six-yard tap-ins. Saints fans certainly appreciated the effort.
