South Tipp And Waterford Once Dodged A John Delaney-Shaped Bullet

The third part of Barry Egan's infomercial on John Delaney is out today and in it Irish football's glorious leader claims that he was asked to run for public office six or sevens years ago.

I was asked by a Fianna Fail minister in Croke Park one day would I run in either South Tipperary or Waterford and in one tenth of a second, 'no, no'. That would've been 07/08, around that time. And he meant it now, it wasn't a throwaway. It wouldn't be for me, football, you know, I love football.

Presumably if he was going to run it would have been the 2011 general election.

Sounds like Waterford and South Tipp dodged a bullet there.
