This is some great analysis from Graeme Souness and Kevin Kilbane on TV3 following Arsenal's 2-0 win against Bayern Munich.
Arsenal's first goal of the game had a major element of fortune about it. First, Bayern played a crazy high line when defending a free kick. Second, Manuel Neuer completely missed the ball. Third, the ball went in off Olivier Giroud's face.
Neither Souness or Kilbane could understand why Pep Guardiola would play such a high line. According to Souness, Guardiola is trying to 'reinvent defending'. Kilbane opined that the tactic 'cost Bayern Munich the three points'.
Put to Souness by Tommy Martin that Guardiola is regarded as a genius, Souness claimed that 'Martin's wife could have won a European Cup with Messi'.
The presenter did quip back that his wife 'know's her football'.
