I said to them before the game to show the values that we have as group, everything we're fighting for here, and we got that.
- Our Lord and Saviour Garry Monk.
Have you heard the latest? Leeds United are back. I don't care that it's only January, I don't care that you don't need to be Barcelona to beat Derby County 1-0, I don't care that they're not even in the automatic promotion places yet, something wonderful is brewing at Elland Road.
Garry Monk is developing a team which is restoring pride in a club starved of hope for far too long. Their victory over Derby was as comprehensive a 1-0 win as one could witness. It was their best performance in recent memory and one that saw them secure their fifth clean sheet in a row at home; a feat not managed since 1997.
Leeds:

You can feel the buzz through your television. In fact, given that they seem to be on the bloody TV every night of the week, it's hard to miss it. What Monk is doing is nothing short of a miracle. This was a club at its wits end. A club void of hope and facing into the abyss. Despite their dreadful start to the season, the word coming out from press meetings was one of quiet hope. The former Swansea man was saying all the right things and there was the feeling the results would come in time.
And by God have they come.

Derby were billed as a real test of where this Leeds team are truly at. A team which was actually missing many key starters, including Championship Player of the Month, Pontus Jansson. But they simply blew their visitors out of the water. Every player is blossoming. With the likes of Souleymane Doukara, Hadi Sacko and Kemar Roofe, they ooze pace and a direct style that will always give the opposition full backs worry. And for what they may lack in guile, Pablo Hernandez is practically overflowing with it. The Spanish Wes Hoolahan.

One would assume that somewhere, Spain's Eamon Dunphy is on television, demanding Hernandez' inclusion in the national side.

And what about Ronaldo Vieira? 18 years old and running the show. Regardless of what happens this season, if he continues his current rate of improvement this guy is going to be a serious player. One which does his brilliant, and frankly ridiculous, name justice.
While a return to the Premier League is still a dream you daren't mention, at least now there is hope. There is a sense of belonging and most importantly, a sense of identity. Leeds United will no longer be fucked about, they will not lie down. For that alone Garry Monk deserves tremendous credit.
