While Leinster House has traditionally been a very welcoming place for ex-inter county footballers, very few English professionals have set up camp in the House of Commons after retiring. But today we learn that Sol Campbell is openly considering getting involved in politics.
And like Frank Lampard, Jimmy Greaves and the majority of Premier League footballers, Campbell is apparently a true blue Tory.
While Campbell's previous utterances on racism within the game led us to believe he was moderately left-minded, he does in fact have no time at all for Labour. He is particularly angry about Labour's proposed 'mansion tax' where those unlucky enough to own houses worth in excess of £2 million will face an annual charge.
This Tax on homes is a cheap & easy way to extract money from individuals that have done well! Does @UKLabour want to kill the top market?

He tweeted that 'Labour are the grim reaper of business entrepreneurs or anyone who has done well.'
Think out of the box @UKLabour. Don't go back, look forward. An Englishman's home is his castle, there will be uproar with this tax!

While opposition to the mansion tax may not be the rallying cry for our times, Campbell feels he has 'a lot to offer' and that 'it is important for the black vote.'
If the ‘black vote’ votes it will clearly push someone over the line. I am for getting people from my background to vote.
