Sol Campbell is definitely one of the more eccentric characters in football. The former Arsenal defender has described himself in the past as one of the greatest minds in football and hinted at a political career, but for the most part what comes out of his mouth should be taken with a pinch of salt.
It appears as this rule even extends to when Campbell is talking about what age he is. The former footballer took to Twitter today in order to thank his fans for the birthday wishes, and mentioned that 'some people thought I was 44 for some strange reason', before assuring (himself?) that he is actually 'definitely 43'.
This denial came in spite of the fact that his Wikipedia page has him at 44, and it looks like Campbell quickly understood the error of his ways, deleting the initial video and posting a second video where he thanks his fans for the birthday wishes (not mentioning what age he is), before hilariously dropping in the line 'another year older another year wiser', which this writer hopes is a nod to his almost unbelievable stupidity:
Hopefully I'm like fine wine and get better with age... another year older another year wiser as the old saying goes.
Sol Campbell may the exception to the rule.
Here are the two videos side by side:
sol campbell uploaded two birthday vids today. in the first, he asserts he is 43 today, despite some people thinking he's 44, nope, definitely 43...
minutes later, he deleted this and uploaded a second with the exact same message, minus all mention of his age. wiki says he's 44 pic.twitter.com/zzlPXRUU3M
