These days transfer speculation can come from all sorts of sources. Fake Twitter accounts, Instagram likes, your granny ... your granny's cat. The list goes on and on, so forgiveme if I'm not exactly convinced by the rumour that Cristiano Ronaldo is on his way back to Man United.
For instance, it could simply be something like the Xabi Alonso to Liverpool story which originated from someone realising he hasn't signed a new contract and said person thinking 'Liverpool! Liverpool could sign him, you know!'
In case the CR7 it seems everyone is going on a report in the Manchester Evening News, which they published yesterday evening (an apt time for them). They say:
M.E.N. Sport understands United are working on what could be a new club-record deal to bring Ronaldo back to Manchester six years after he joined Real Madrid for a world record £80m.
The big question is where their understanding comes from. If it's a sort of 'Sky sources' job then it could be that they listened to child in playschool, during imagination time. However if you give a quick search on Twitter for 'Manchester Evening News' and 'reliable' you get a lot of regular readers attesting to their transfer reporting over the whole course of the summer.
Elsewhere in their article they cite Ronaldo losing the rag with Benitez in training as further evidence but one simply can't go 'Oh Ronaldo had a heated conversation with Rafa Benitez. He's obviously going to Man United.'
They do add that Ronny has been disgusted at the club's treatment of Iker Casillas, which if true could be a possible reason for him to leave alright.
So in conclusion, is Ronaldo going to Man United? I haven't a clue and doubt anyone other than about four people does either.
