The lads at Sporting Intelligence have laid waste to one of the bigger Irish football myths: that we're the best fans in the world. Sure we may be great, peaceloving craicmongers come matchday at a major football competition, but when you crunch the numbers, there aren't really that many people who support football (and by support, SI mean attend matches) in Ireland. Given the small population here, we Could have owned this list. Instead we mingle down at the bottom of the European table with countries with massive populations. This will give the GAA some solace heading into the summer.
