Downtrodden and at a loss, without a team to support at next year's World Cup, Eoin Conlon and his buddies came up with a plan to raise the spirits of Irish soccer fans everywhere.
They simply swapped an 'R' for a 'C' and declared Iceland as the 33rd county in Ireland. They take on Croatia this week in their World Cup qualifying play-off and Conlon has set up a website where Irish people can declare their support for the loveable underdogs.
The reasoning behind countyiceland.ie? Well the similarity in name for starters and, given that the population of Iceland is less than Co Down, Conlon wants to drum up as much support for their team in Ireland as their is in County Iceland.
