Shooting mechanics have been changed for FIFA20. It often takes players some time to get used to the new mechanics each year and with goalkeepers being improved, it will be even more difficult for players this year. With this in mind, we have decided to compile some tips that will teach you how to shoot in FIFA20.
There are mainly five different types of shots in FIFA20 and these are; normal shot, timed shot, low shot, chip shot, finesse shot, and flair shot.
Normal Shot
This is just your basic type of shot and it can be utilised inside or outside the box. The main thing to keep in mind with this type of shot, and any other shot for that matter, is the position of your player in relation to the ball. If the ball is slightly in front of your player they will struggle to reach it and generate very little power but if it is slightly behind your player the odds are they scuff the shot, in turn, resulting in very little power.
Timed Shot
Timed shooting has been brought back for FIFA20 after it was first included in FIFA19. This year it has been retouched and rebalanced which has added to the difficulty of it. After powering up a shot you will need to press the shoot button again at the right time slightly before the shot is actually taken. This will result in your shots being more consistent and accurate and it will increase your chances of scoring.
Low Shot
This type of shot is also known as a “pea-roller” or a “daisy cutter”. It is a normal shot with lower power which results in the ball rolling along the ground. You can carry out a low shot by simply holding the shoot button for a shorter amount of time. This type of shot tends to be very accurate but lacks power so it would be very useful in one-on-one situations but would not be the best to use from anywhere outside the box, although if accurate enough it could creep in.
Chip Shot
The opportunity to use chip shots in FIFA20 is very rare. These shots can be carried out while holding L1/LB when you press the shoot button and it is when your player lifts the ball up in the air over the goalkeeper. They are most useful when the goalkeeper is off his line and is mostly used inside the box but can be pulled off outside the box.
Finesse Shot
Finesse shots are refined, delicate shots that have more accuracy than power. They are carried out by holding R1/RB while pressing the shoot button. They are usually curved shots and are taken with the inside of the foot. They are suitable to be used in one-on-one situations and also to curve the ball around an opposition defender int the corner of the goal.
Flair Shot
Flair shots are very rarely pulled off. They are also referred to as “skill shots” and can be carried out by holding L2/LT while pressing the shoot button. This will result in your player taking some sort of fancy shot depending on the situation e.g. if the ball is crossed in and is behind your striker, they will attempt an overhead/bicycle kick.
