Shelbourne FC have issued an apology to Sligo Rovers regarding a tweet which was sent from their Twitter account yesterday.

The Board of Management of Shelbourne FC would like to apologise to Sligo Rovers FC for the sending of an unauthorised tweet yesterday afternoon from the Shelbourne FC Official Twitter account. This tweet suggested that Shelbourne FC is supporting Sligo's opponents in the Champions League match this week. Nothing could be further from the truth and the Board of Shelbourne FC wish to take this opportunity to wish Sligo every success in their European endeavours.

Arising from the sending of this tweet, Shelbourne FC has implemented revised procedures for the management of its Twitter account to ensure that there can never again be an abuse of the account in similar manner to yesterday.
