Shay Given has given his two cents worth on the state of Irish football after our defeat to Sweden, and he thinks it's time for a change of manager.
Speaking to talkSPORT this morning, Given said he was of the belief that Trapattoni is reaching 'the end of his tenure' and that it's 'time for someone else to take the reigns on.'
He said, 'I just think people in general are looking for a change, they want someone new in with fresh ideas. It’s time for someone else to take the reins and hopefully lead us to the next European Championship.'
While Given stated that there has never been a problem between Trap and the players, the language barrier was an issue on occasion, 'Sometimes it's difficult for him to get his point across with his lack of English.'
He was a little reserved in his optimism though, noting that 'We are a small nation. People shouldn't forget that.'
