On Friday, Shane Long was linked with a move to either Liverpool or Spurs by the Daily Star.
Obviously these reports were to be taken with a pinch of salt. In addition to word from The Star, The Sun report today that Jurgen Klopp is considering an £8m move for the Irish striker.
Liverpool are certainly in need of a striker right now. Options up front are currently thin on the ground due to injuries and Christian Benteke looking out of favour with the German manager.
In terms of a transfer for Long, the way could cleared by Southampton signing another striker. So it's certainly interesting to hear this morning that Ronald Koeman's side are on the verge of acquiring Charlie Austin from QPR.
The Englishman - who scored 18 goals in the Premier League last season - is out of contract come the summer.
According to Sky Sports, Austin has agreed personal terms with Southampton, passed a medical and could make what would be a bargain £4m move to the Premier League side.
Fee is believed to be in the region of £4m. Austin's contract is due to run out in the summer. #SSNHQ
