Celtic are close to completing a one-year loan deal for Shane Duffy.
The Daily Mail reports that talks between Brighton and the Scottish side are ongoing and that a move could be sealed by the end of the week.
It is said that West Ham and West Brom are also interested in the player but that Duffy expressed a desire to join Celtic.
The 28-year-old would likely have found himself well down the pecking order of centre-backs at Brighton this season, behind the likes of Lewis Dunk, Adam Webster, Ben White and Joel Veltman. He started 19 games for the Premier League side last season.
Asked on Sunday about the possibility of Celtic making further signings, manager Neil Lennon said: "I think so, yeah. I don't know how many, but hopefully there will be one or two new faces coming in."
Brighton manager Graham Potter understands that Duffy wants to play.
"We can’t control the things in the media," Potter told The Argus.
“You understand the speculation with Shane because he is an important player, he is a big character and he wants to play football.
“You put two and two together and it’s an obvious one.
“But he has been fantastic for me and he has been great in the group.
“I understand he wants to play and we need to make those decisions at the right time for him and for the team.
“At this moment he is with us, he does his best every day and he is part of your group.”
