Shane Duffy was man of the match in last nights' friendly game against Switzerland at the Aviva last night, but despite his impressive performance, he is pessimistic about making the 23 man squad for the Europan Championships.
Press Association are reporting these comments made by Duffy when asked of his prospects for forcing his way into the squad for France:
I'm probably miles off, but I've just got to go out there and try to see what I can do. I don't know if the mamager's got his squad picked but all you can do is take your chance.
Everyone wants to play and the lads who got us to the Euros are there. They've done all the hard work, so I can't just come in. I've got to bide my time and if it's not this one, then it's the next campaign.
I've got to focus on club football and try toimpress. I can't just come in and take someone's place.

Ireland are well-stocked at centre-back ahead of the Euros, with Ciaran Clark adding to his impressive performances against Bosnia with another commanding performance - and a goal - last night. Clark and Duffy are seeking to dislodge first-choice partnership of John O'Shea and Richard Keogh.
Elsewhere, Kevin Doyle has confirmed that he is recovering well from the horror gash he sustained on his shin following a heavy challenge in the first half. Doyle was stretchered off amid fears of a broken leg, but those fears have since been allayed:
