Brighton have completed a club record £4m deal for Ireland international Shane Duffy. The 24-year old has signed a three-year deal with the Championship side, bringing his two-year spell at Blackburn Rovers to a close.
His transfer brings an end to a fairly crazy couple of weeks for the Derry man. When Ronan Keating said that life is a roller-coaster, it's fair to say he was probably talking about Shane Duffy.
In Blackburn's away game to Cardiff, Duffy managed to score two own goals and get sent off in the same game. Ouch.
Duffy will be hoping to put all that behind him, signing for a club currently sitting second in the Championship. The former Everton player joins fellow Irishman Richie Towell at Brighton but will be hoping to clock more game time than the ex-Dundalk man. Hopefully his fortunes start looking up too.
