With talented free agent signing Victor Valdes set to depart Manchester United after a bust-up with his manager, Louis Van Gaal seems to be set to replace him with another free agent signing.
Argentina's World Cup final goalkeeper Sergio Romero has been linked to United since early in the week, after Sky Italia reported that they had offered more money to Romero than Roma.
Romero has worked with van Gaal already at AZ Alkmaar, and is available on a free after his contract with Sampdoria ran out after spending last season at Monaco.
Van Gaal said yesterday that they were looking at targetting two more positions, while also saying that there might be a surprise option as a striker.
With Romero set to arrive now, and rumours intensifying about another Argentine Nicolas Otamendi close to a move to Old Trafford, it's hard to know which two Van Gaal is targetting or whether van Gaal is pulling a fast one on us.
