Ireland's point with Wales was quite a good one for ourselves and an enormous blow for the opposition, but the pragmatic realities of the result are utterly overshadowed by the hideous injury sustained by Ireland captain Seamus Coleman. Martin O'Neill confirmed afterward that Coleman had sustained a broken leg in the dreadful challenge by Neil Taylor. The Wales player was sent off and will serve a ban, but it will be nothing like the time out of the game now facing Coleman.
The footballing world were quick to pay tribute to Coleman, and wish him a speedy recovery. While this kind of practice is commonplace in football, the sheer volume of people sending out their own Seamus Coleman tribute is a testament to the reputation of the our captain.
Here's a chunk of those messages of goodwill:
Hope seamus Coleman gets better soon. Horrible tackle
