Seamus Coleman surprises young Everton fan: he was waiting for Will when he came home from school and it was a beautiful moment at what is a tough time for Will and his family.
Football can seem awfully trivial at times of sadness or grief, but in reality it is perhaps more important than ever. It's how people connect with each other, it provides them with an outlet for the stresses of life and is something that can provide a person with hope during tough times.
For one young Everton fan, Will (aged 11), Everton FC is more than just a club. Will used to go to games with his dad who is described as his "best friend". Unfortunately Will's dad passed away a short time ago aged 52. But Everton, the club Will and his dad both loved together, have made a connection with this young fan to try and give him a bit of a lift at this time.
And that's where Seamus Coleman comes in.
Coleman is much loved at Everton and in Ireland because of not just his football ability but also his honesty of effort, passion and also the genuine humility that pours from him anytime he speaks. So it's not surprising that he was the player put forward to surprise Will when he came home from school with tickets for Everton's upcoming game against Leicester and Christmas presents underneath a blue and white decorated tree.
The kid is pretty speechless when he sees Coleman. It's a lovely moment and a wonderful gesture from Everton going into what's going to be a pretty rough Christmas for Will and his family.
