Seamus Coleman Is Once Again Being Linked With A Big Move Away From Everton

Yes, it's probably only a transfer rumour pulled out of someone's arse but indulge us here for a second. Seamus Coleman is once again being linked with one of the Premier League's heavy hitters, this time in the shape of Man Utd.

Louis Van Gaal and his cohorts in the Old Trafford corridors of power have, according to the Daily Star, lined up the Killybegs man as the solution to Man Utd's problematic right back position. Rafael has long been something of a liability while Antonio Valencia's conversion into bombing wing-back is far from ideal.

Enter '£25 million rated Coleman whom van Gaal is ready to snatch from under the noses of Chelsea. Jose Mourinho has long been touted as an admirer of the Irish international, however from an Irish point of view, you would have to say that a move to Old Trafford may be the best option for Coleman.

With Branislav Ivanovic and César Azpilicueta already capable of dominating Chelsea's right side to some aplomb, the move to Old Trafford seems to make much more sense for someone who is in a position to cement his status as one of the best full backs in the Premier League. Van Gaal's 3-5-2 system would certainly appeal to Coleman's more adventurous side and he would, conceivably, offer more defensive solidity than Valencia, although we're willing to be challenged on that.

Van Gaal apparently tried to sign Coleman in the summer, however, a potential swap deal involving Marouane Fellaini never materialised and unsurprisingly, the Dutchman may be about to come calling once again given the less than fixed nature of his back line so far this season.
