Everton captain Séamus Coleman sent a brilliant video message to an Everton fan who was left heartbroken by the postponement of Saturday's Merseyside derby, with the club making a brilliant gesture.
Goodison Park is among the most iconic grounds in English football but it was primed to host its final ever Everton v Liverpool fixture on Saturday. The home side are set to move to Liverpool's docks next season to play in the state-of-the-art Everton Stadium.
However, with Storm Darragh tearing through Ireland and the UK, the organisers were forced to postpone the game on Saturday morning, just a few hours before the scheduled 12:30pm kick-off. It is the only Premier League fixture which has been cancelled due to the storm.
It was disappointing news for Everton fans who had been looking forward to the biggest fixture of their final season in Goodison Park - but it was especially disappointing for Mackenzie Kinsella.
Aussie Kinsella is an Everton superfan, who used all of his savings for the trip of a lifetime to see his favourite Premier League team in what was set to be a historic fixture.
The 15-year-old saved for months to afford the round-trip from Sydney, and managed to take in Wednesday's 4-0 win over Wolves. However, the main event was curtailed and Kinsella will have been left gutted by the decision to cancel the Merseyside derby.
In recognition of his immense effort in travelling to the game, Everton made the brilliant gesture of inviting Kinsella to their training ground, and Séamus Coleman delivered a lovely video message to the youngster.

Séamus Coleman and Everton make brilliant gesture to fan who travelled from Sydney
With Aussie fan Mackenzie Kinsella left gutted by the postponement of Saturday's Merseyside derby, Everton captain Séamus Coleman delivered a wonderful message on social media.
In a video shared on Twitter, Coleman invited Kinsella to join the Everton squad at their training ground to make up for the disappointment of missing the game, and applauded the 15-year-old for his dedication to the side.
Coleman said,
Hi Mackenzie, it's Séamus Coleman here.
I just wanted to send you a video message to say that I know you will be so disappointed today. I know how hard you saved up to travel from Australia for the Merseyside derby, I know you were looking forward to the experience of being at the last Merseyside derby at Goodison.
I'm sure you'll be very disappointed today - we all are, all us Evertonians are. We were all looking forward to the game.
We'd love to see you down here at the training ground here on Monday, if that's okay with you. Hopefully you can see a few of the lads and hopefully it'll make up for some of the disappointment and we can have a chat then.
All the very best Mackenzie, and take care.
It's a wonderful gesture from Everton, and it's no surprise to see Séamus Coleman front and centre.
As of yet, no new date has been announced for the Merseyside derby.
