A rather surreal moment took place at Bayern Munich's official pre-match press conference ahead of their trip to London to face Arsenal in the Champions League this week, as the name of Ireland's captain popped up out of nowhere.

Since last may, German giants Bayern Munich have been linked with Everton right-back Seamus Coleman as the need for a Philip Lahm replacement has become more and more apparent, so now with the World Cup winner definitely retiring in the summer, maybe it's time for Seamus to make the move to the Bundesliga giants?

No. No it's not.

After an Irish journalist asked the question directly, Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti gave a blunt response which drew laughs from most in attendance.

Was the eruption of laughter really necessary? Poor Seamus!

In all seriousness, the reaction was for Ancelotti's blunt dismissal of transfer talk ahead of a Champions League tie, and the thought of Coleman moving to the Bavarian giants isn't that amusing. He's well capable.

He is also committed to Everton, however, so a move this summer is unlikely. As nice as it would be to see Coleman play Champions League football, the solidity he has at Goodison Park hasn't done him any harm so far.
