For quite a few years, there was a noticeable lack of depth when it came to wingers in the Republic of Ireland squad.
That has changed somewhat in recent years, with Chiedozie Ogbene and Mikey Johnston coming into the fold. It will be hoped that a couple more can be added over the coming seasons.
While it will be hoped that some new talent comes through the youth ranks in that area, it seems that the FAI have also considered recruiting players who were born overseas.

Scottish star reveals contact from Ireland over international switch
Danny Armstrong has had a fine season for Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership, scoring nine goals and registering 14 assists for the club in all competitions.
That has led to calls for him to be brought into the Scotland squad ahead of Euro 2024 this summer, with the player uncapped at international level.
Speaking to PLZ Soccer, he admitted that he still harbours hopes of making the Scotland squad for the tournament. However, he revealed that he has also been in contact with Ireland over a potential international switch.

It is an ambition of mine (to play for Scotland). You see players in that squad, they're a very, very talented squad. They've got some big, big players.
I feel like I would bring something different to that squad if I was involved, I don't think there is many out there like me that can offer something like I can offer.
You never know. I would absolutely love it. I've not had any conversations with Scotland.
I've had conversations with people in the Irish setup, I qualify for that as well.
It is a massive ambition of mine (to play for Scotland). There is a 26-man squad, you never know what can happen. I'm sure there is two friendlies coming up as well.
Danny Armstrong was previously capped by Scotland at U16 level, although he has not featured for them since. Now 27-years old and in the best form of his career, he may well feel that this is his final opportunity to break into the squad under Steve Clarke.
If that does not come to fruition, he may well turn his attentions towards Ireland.
