Police Scotland have ruled against Celtic fans' plans to wear regulation hard hats to Ibrox for tomorrow's Old Firm Derby.
A number of the Hoops faithful had been joking for the past few weeks that they would don hard hats for the derby due to fears that the Ibrox roof would cave in on them, with rumours again circulating in recent weeks that the old Glasgow ground is structurally unsound.
Kickoff for Rangers' league fixture against Dumbarton last year was delayed by 10 minutes amidst concerns about the roof, and the issue resurfaced this summer when Dave King was forced to issue a statement about the state of the ground.
This sparked some Celtic fans to start a campaign earlier this month, entitled 'GO HARD OR DON'T GO'.
However, the Celtic FC Supporters Liason have this morning informed fans that Police Scotland have banned the wearing of hard hats for the New Year's Eve fixture.
They don't provide a reason for Police Scotland's decision, although it is quite possible that you're simply not allowed to wear a regulation hard hat in a football stadium unless you're constructing said football stadium.
For anyone who had intended to wear one @policescotland have advised that regulation hard hats will not be permitted at the match tomorrow😂 pic.twitter.com/jb4pOY6c2X
