Scott Hogan scored his second and third goals of the season on Saturday as Brentford won 2-0 away to Brighton.
The striker - a player Martin O'Neill has said he's keeping an eye on - looked in electric form.
Several times he got on the end of balls in behind the Brighton defence. Had his finishing been slightly better he could have had four or five.
In terms of style, Hogan - just 24-years-old - looks very similar to Shane Long. His first came in the 29th minute after he raced through on goal - showing both speed and control. His second came in the 70th minute, a clinical finish inside the box.
It was disappointing that Hogan was not named in the Ireland squad for the games against Oman and Serbia. The former would have appeared the ideal opportunity to at least get him involved with the squad. Born in Salford, he qualifies for Ireland through his grandparents and has expressed interest in playing for Martin O'Neill's side.
If he continues with this type of form, it can't be too long until we see him in an Ireland shirt.
