There was talk of Rangers mounting a title challenge going into this afternoon's Old Firm derby at Ibrox. When Josh Windass put Rangers one up after just two minutes and then Daniel Candeias renewed that advantage following Tom Rogic's equaliser, it certainly looked as if there might be a modicum of merit to the talk.
A Moussa Dembele equaliser just before half-time and then a winner from Odsonne Edouard ended any murmurings of a Rangers challenge. Celtic are now nine points ahead of their Glasgow rivals with a game in hand.
The win came for Celtic despite losing Jozo Šimunović to a red card.
"We knew we had to defend and catch them on the counter," Scott Brown told Sky Sports before emphasising the type of belief Celtic now have going into Old Firm games.
"We've got the pace, we've got the quality. We've come here four times now and we've won four times - we believe that we can win all the time here."
Brown's response, when about the talk regarding a Rangers title challenge, was even briefer than that mounted by the blue half of Glasgow.
"We weren't talking about that, that was them. They did a lot of talking beforehand, we stayed quiet and we usually do our talking on the park."
