Ireland's Euro 2016 qualifying hopes received a massive shot in the arm already today after Georgia did us a massive favour by beating Scotland 1-0.
That means that Ireland face Gibraltar today and can leapfrog Scotland into third with a win in Loule.
Scotland have been steadily improving in recent years, and were expected to come away from Tbilisi with a victory, but it wasn't to be. For those that missed the match, seeing a 1-0 scoreline to the underdogs would suggest that it might have been a smash and grab game - but it wasn't like that.
Georgia with a 3-on-1 break decide to shoot from 35 yards out. Don't they know we need a result here? #Euro2016

Georgia were on the front foot for most of the game, wasting several chances both before and after the goal.
While Scotland had their periods of prominence, this stat from Opta shows that they didn't deserve a draw:
0 - Against Georgia, Scotland failed to direct a single shot on target for the first time in a Euro 2016 qualifier, Blunt.

All that stress at the end of the game wasn't worth it apparently.
