Luis Suarez has been banned from 'all football activities' for four months by a FIFA panel after he was found to have bitten Georgio Chiellini on the shoulder in Uruguay's final group tie with Italy.

Roy Keane was handed a five-week ban and a £150,000 fine in October 2002 for comments he made in his autobiography about Alf Inge Halaand, following this challenge.

Paulo Di Canio was given an eleven game ban and £10,000 fine for pushing referee Paul Alcock while playing for Sheffield Wednesday in a Premier League match against Arsenal in September 1998.

Mark Bosnich was Suspended for nine months in April 2003 after failing a drugs test for cocaine. Had his contract terminated by Chelsea and subsequently lost his appeal against the ban.

Luis Suarez' last ban was ten games for the Branislav Ivanovic biting incident.

He had been banned for seven games for another biting incident in the Dutch league three years previously.
