West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has been known to big himself up on occasion, having famously once stated that he was more suited to Real Madrid and Inter Milan than Blackburn and Bolton, but his latest comments may be the greatest indicator yet that he thinks of himself as one of the best managers around, because, well... He pretty much said just that.
Speaking ahead of West Ham's tricky away trip to Southampton, the larger than life Allardyce claimed that because only Arsene Wenger has been at his current club longer than he has, that makes him as good as anyone else.
I don't think there is any coach more sophisticated than me any more, that's not trying to criticise any other coaches. But there is only Arsene Wenger who has done it longer than me. I'm just as good as everybody at this stage.
Yes Sam, because that's how it works.
West Ham United are enjoying an excellent season this year as they lie in 8th position of the Barclays Premier League, but let's face it "sophisticated" is not a word you immediately associate with Big Sam, and longevity is not the barometer by which managerial ability is judged.
That said, he's some man for a quote. Oh, and just because, here's that vine of him laughing at Chico Flores:
