As the Premier League season moves closer to its mid-way point, and disgruntled chairmen consider the possibility of a quick-fire sacking to alleviate the woes of a poor start, Sam Allardyce returned to our screens for Crystal Palace's 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Since being ushered out the door at Everton, the former England manager has been without work; with a football club, at least.

With the likes of Southampton, Huddersfield, Fulham and Newcastle United (although, maybe not) struggling at the tail-end of the Premier League table, it's only a matter of time before vacancies are there to be filled.

Working through tonight's game alongside Jermaine Jenas and Chris Sutton, Sam Allarydce outlined his cunning plan to save the Eagles from getting sucked deeper into the mire. At one time the head-honcho at Selhurst Park, Allardyce kept it simple - give it t'big man, Christian Benteke.

Over the course of his last 100 or so games for Crystal Palace and Liverpool, the Congolese striker has managed 30 goals. Not something that worries Allardyce, however.

If you want his take on what the big striker can bring, all you need to do is consider Benteke's spell at Aston Villa, over three years ago now.

"The answer to all their problems for me, and this is only my opinion from having worked with him, is Christian Benteke," Allarydce reasoned.

"I know he only scored three goals last season but, honestly, you look at what he did at Aston Villa, you look at what he did for Palace when I was here, get him back on the pitch."

Outlining how he would attempt to harness Benteke's unquestioned attributes, Sam Allardyce has it covered.

"Get him that big front man you play off early, and wide men cross balls for him, because he is one of the best goalscorers from balls hung up on the far post."
