Sky Sports are reporting that Stoke City have agreed a fee for Ryan Sweeney.
The Ireland U19 international, who plays at centre-back, is currently with AFC Wimbledon. He will undergo a medical tomorrow at Stoke tomorrow.
Sky say that the fee for the player is £250,000.
Earlier this year, Sweeney was reported to have turned down Spurs in favour of signing a long-term deal with AFC Wimbledon.
On signing the contract, Sweeney spoke of his desire to remain with the Football League side.
My heart is set here. I want to play for Wimbledon.
Every day I come into training to try and better myself. Every time I put on the shirt I feel a sense of pride when I cross that white line.
It would appear something has changed in the interim.
Also at the time of inking the new deal, Wimbledon manager Neil Ardley spoke positively about the player.
He’s six foot four, he’s left sided, he’s got good quality on the ball, he’s aggressive and he’s done a wonderful job for us in this run in.
Born in London, the 19-year-old started ten games last season as Wimbledon won promotion to League One.
