Alex Ferguson has told the ongoing Ryan Giggs assault trial that the ex-footballer and manager had a "fantastic temperament."
Ferguson, who was called into the trial as a character witness, claimed he had never saw Giggs lose his temper.
The former Manchester United manager said that Giggs was “without doubt the best example we had in the club. Everyone looked at Ryan as the number one.”
Giggs is facing a charge of causing actual bodily harm to his ex-girlfriend, Kate Greville.
Ms Greville alleges that she was headbutted by Giggs when she attempted to break away from the relationship in November 2020.
The 13-time Premier League winner is also accused of assaulting Ms Greville's younger sister Emma on the same night and using controlling and coercive behaviour towards Ms Greville over a three-year period before the night of the alleged violence.
Giggs denies committing the offences.
Ferguson was quizzed about Giggs relationship history and asked whether his former player had lots of girlfriends.
It is alleged by Ms Greville that Giggs had relationships with eight different women at one point.
“When he got older, when we had dinners at the end of the season, he would bring a friend with him, yeah," Ferguson said.
Ferguson on Ryan Giggs's temperament
Ferguson went onto describe Giggs' temperament.
“When he got older, in the dressing room, I used Ryan a lot when I lost my temper,” he said.
“I would use Ryan as an example and sometime he got the sharp end of my tongue. I knew he could take it.
"I knew he was strong enough, I knew that everyone else in the dressing room would be thinking, ‘If Ryan Giggs can take it, we can all take it.’
"Fantastic temperament, absolutely wonderful temperament.”
Before Ferguson's testimony messages between Giggs and Greville were read in court.
On New Year's Eve 2017, Giggs sent a post to Ms Greville which spelled out her surname: "G for Gorgeous, R for Radiant, E for Extraordinary, V for Vivacious, I for Idolised (by me), L for Legs, L for Legs, E for Everything I have wanted."
The trial continues.
