Ryan Colclough mimicked Bebeto's famous USA 94 baby cradling celebrating following his second goal against Doncaster on Tuesday night.
He had good reason too: at half-time, he had received the news that the birth of his second child was fast approaching.
The 22-year-old Wigan winger had scored his first of the League One game during first-half injury time. His second came after 58 minutes. Just two minutes later, he was removed from the action and headed to the hospital.
Wigan assistant manager Leam Richardson told Wigan Today:
At half-time we got the message that his missus' waters had broken, his second child. As soon as he got his second goal he was off the pitch, because his head was somewhere else.
We're all men, we're all individuals - some of the players wouldn't have gone, they'd be still in the dressing room now! Others want to get straight out to support their partner, and you respect every individual in what they want to do.
A little more than two hours after his baby cradling celebration, Colclough was doing the real thing.
Congrats to Ryan Colclough who scored a brace tonight in our win before being substituted to make it in time to see the birth of his son! 👏🏼 pic.twitter.com/Efvjk9P3sw
