Big shoutout to Sligo's finest Art McCarrick who passed on this ad listing from Journajobs.eu. Essentially London-based 'global creative agency' Major Players is seeking to employ a 'social media reporter' whose brief is as follows: 'You need to keep the community in touch with the player during the playing season, as well as off season, with both on and off the pitch related content.'
The job specifies that the applicant must speak Spanish and English and have a desire to live in Barcelona.
So all things being equal, it looks 99% likely that the job is to run the social media accounts of a Barcelona player. that would mean 'being' a Barca player, at least in a least in a virtual sense.
They add: 'This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to share and build on the passions of a football community whilst travelling with a football megastar'. And for that, they'll pay you £35,000 - 45,000. Who could it be? Is Messi planning a move to Twitter? Is Pique handing over control of his accounts with a kid on the way.
All in all though, it's not such a bad gig.
