Amorim's Modesty After Man Utd Thrashing Will Further Endear Him To Fans

Ruben Amorim got his first Premier League win as Manchester United manager following the Red Devils 4-0 dismantling of Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Two goals each for Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee sealed the win for United, who have now scored 8 goals in just 3 games since Amorim's arrival.

Rashford got the scoring underway just after the half-hour mark as he was on the end of a classic corner routine. Somewhat akin to Paul Scholes' famous goal against Bradford Rashford volleyed a Bruno Fernandes corner home with help from a deflection off Jarrad Branthwaite.

It went from bad to worse for Branthwaite and Everton moments later as the young England International was dispossessed by Amad before Bruno squared the ball to Joshua Zirkzee as the Dutchman scored his first goal since the opening day of the season to double the Red Devils' lead heading into the break.

United kept their foot on the throat of Everton after the break as a classic United counter attack was finished off by Rashford after being slipped in by Amad to give United a 3-0 lead just 20 seconds into the second half.

In what looked like a repeat of the second goal Amad was at the centre of Manchester United's final goal. The Ivorian international took the ball off James Tarkowski and ran towards the box and with just Ashley Young back for Everton, Amad squared it to Zirkzee who calmly slotted the ball past Jordan Pickford to give United their biggest Premier League win of the season so far.

They've also moved back into the top half of the table into ninth, just four points off their local rivals Manchester City and fourth place.

It may still only be just a matter of weeks since Rúben Amorim has come into Old Trafford but in his short time he's done well to lift the mood and atmosphere around the club. He's clearly been able to motivate the players to press harder, something that was a major issue under Erik ten Hag.

Amorim's arrival has also seen players come back into form like Rashford and seen new players emerge as regular starters like Amad.

Although he was used frequently this season before ten Hag's sacking, Amad's move to right wing back looks to be an inspired decision by Amorim as the Ivorian looks like he has the capability to have a real impact going forward for United.

Speaking to the press after the win, Amorim was quick to divert credit for Amad's performances to Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was in interim charge for four matches before Amorim's arrival.

He was really good again, he’s in a great moment but that moment started with Ruud [van Nistelrooy], so I just take advantage of his work with Amad. He was really good defending and really good attacking.

So he needs to continue to play like that. You could feel it at the end of the game he was really, really tired, so we need to manage that to increase physical ability.

The Portuguese Head Coach also credited his players with taking control of the match in vital moments, especially in the period directly before and after halftime where he felt the game was won.

With Arsenal coming up next it will be the first real barometer test for this new Manchester United to see how quickly has Amorim turned things around at Old Trafford.
