The Baggies would have had their sights on promotion at the beginning of the season. But with one win in 12 games, they find themselves in the relegation zone.
It would be quite the job for Roy Keane, who does have plenty of experience in the championship.
His first managerial job was with Sunderland, where he got them promoted to the Premier League. His last position in coaching was also in the championship, as assistant manager at Nottingham Forrest.
He had been linked with moves to Hibernian and back to Sunderland, but he has remained as a pundit with Sky Sports.
Speaking last spring, the idea of not going back into management didn't seem to phase Roy Keane.
"I can't see a club giving me a real good opportunity to get back into it. I think those days are over for me.
I count my blessings, because as you know there are a lot of ex-players looking to get back into it."
While Roy Keane would never be the type to back down from a challenge, it would be a huge task on his hands if he would be was to take over.
Without a win at seven and can’t stop conceding goals, Keane’s old school type of management may give West Brom the boost they need right now.
