Manchester United and Spurs played out a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford this evening, and while the away side were the better team, Roy Keane feels that some of the praise they have received for the performance went a bit overboard.

Erik ten Hag's men would take an early lead in the game, with Rasmus Hojlund scoring his second Premier League goal of the season with a brilliant finish.

However, the lead would not last long.

Spurs would get their equaliser from a set-piece, with Richarlison heading home from a corner.

United retook the lead via Marcus Rashford late on in the first half, although they would immediately give that up once the match restarted after the interval.

Rodrigo Bentancur was the player to score on this occasion, finishing well to complete an excellent team move from the away side.

Spurs would dominate possession from this point onwards, although neither team would create a huge amount in terms of chances over the remainder of the second half.

In the end, the two sides would have to be content with a draw.

Roy Keane pushes back on Spurs praise after Manchester United draw

Tottenham will certainly come away from this one feeling that they should have won the game, dominating the ball throughout and looking like the more dangerous side.

They came in for some big praise from the likes of Jamie Redknapp and Gary Neville in the direct aftermath of the game, although Roy Keane was not convinced that it was warranted.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, the Irishman said that while Spurs played well at Old Trafford, there was no need to go overboard with the comments about their performance.

We're giving Spurs a lot of praise, they've had a very good season with a lot of injury problems, they drew the game. They didn't come and win the game at Old Trafford, they got a draw.

Manchester United were missing some players (too). It's amazing when we do a TV game, we end up speaking for about an hour about the players that aren't here. It's about the players that are out there, if you want to be a big club you have to deal with setback.

[Spurs] were the better team, but we can't sit here and go overboard on Spurs and say they are outstanding. We heard from the manager, he's obviously going to praise his players, the staff got praised, the bus driver got praised, everyone got praised!

Look, it was against a poor Man United team who are in a difficult place. It was 2-2, everyone relax.

This result means Spurs remain in fifth place in the Premier League table, level on points with fourth-placed Arsenal having played a game more.

Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that they can push even further up the league when some of his injured squad members return.
