The air around Old Trafford is thick with anticipation as the 2024-25 season begins. Manchester United fans are buzzing with excitement, eager to see how their revamped squad will perform under Erik ten Hag's guidance.
Following mixed results last season, the Red Devils are determined to make their mark in domestic and European competitions. The summer transfer window has seen a flurry of activity among Premier League clubs, and the club will be securing some promising new talent to bolster their ranks.
With just over two weeks before the summer transfer window closes, former United captain Roy Keane wasn’t afraid to ask Ten Hag whether they would be spending more cash this summer.
“You're finished now with the signings. Is that it, or are you trying to get one or two more in?” Keane asked.
“Hey Roy, we can’t stand still,” the Dutchman responded with a grin.
“But what position would you go for if you could get someone in?” Keane responded.
“It depends on what happens in the market, but I’m happy with the squad and quite confident going into this season.” Ten Hag concluded.

Manchester United's summer so far
So far this summer, United has strengthened their defensive overhaul, which has been high on the agenda at Old Trafford this year. The double signings of centre-back Matthijs de Ligt and full-back Noussair Mazraoui in a reported £60 million ($70m) raid of Bayern Munich and Leny Yoro's switch from Lille in a £58 million ($75m) move make that pretty evident.
Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee arrives from Bologna with a burgeoning reputation and will be a welcome addition to the Red Devils' attacking arsenal. However, if results start to go sideways in the opening few games, don’t rule out another purchase or two. How many more Ajax players are there left for Ten Hag to purchase?
Another potential signing could be PSG and Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte who is not included in the French champions squad for their opening Ligue1 game. We could be hearing 'Here we go' or 'There we land' soon enough.

He wants to join Manchester United, deal never been off. Absolutely on. But it will depend on conditions wanted by PSG.
Ugarte has been clear: he wants #MUFC as soon as possible. pic.twitter.com/0p2w0qhLvc— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 16, 2024
