While Manchester United will emerge from their victory over Arsenal this evening in high spirits, Mikel Arteta's side will probably be wondering how they are coming away from Old Trafford empty-handed.

They dominated for large periods of the game, only to be caught on the break on three occasions. They would ultimately lose the game 3-1.

Arsenal have had a very promising start to the season, winning each of their five Premier League games prior to today's fixture. The fans have gotten right behind the team as a result and many of them will still be encouraged by aspects of their performance against United.

Paul Merson was positive during Sky Sports' post-match coverage, saying that his former team will be somewhat pleased with their showing despite coming out on the wrong end of the result.

Roy Keane didn't agree, saying that it all counted for little if they end up losing the game.

Keane: We've been sitting here, even in the first half, giving Arsenal a lot of plaudits.

When I was a player and teams came here and had a good day, I was never worried about the plaudits. I was interested in the points!

You can praise Arsenal all you want, but this is about results and winning football matches.

Merson: Yeah but there's ways of losing games Roy, they did a lot right today.

Keane: Ah okay, great. You can have a singsong on the way back because you played well? Rubbish!..

Merson: We never won here, but we played quite well.

Keane: Yeah and that's carrying on now, isn't it? Brilliant...

That's the question marks over this group of Arsenal players. They've obviously had a brilliant start to the season, but when it goes to 1-1 and the momentum is with them, they end up losing the game. You need to at least get a draw out of the game.

I think they got giddy and excited.

Arsenal still sit top of the Premier League table, although their fans will be hoping that this loss does not set off a run of poor result as has happened in the past.

Keane would go on to label Mikel Arteta as a 'sore loser' after he complained about the goal that his team had disallowed in the first half of the game.

Listen, I'm fed up with all their excuses. I'm serious.

Arteta gets interviewed after the game, and he's a sore loser like us all, but he has got to give a bit of credit to Manchester United. He never does.

Every time he loses a game, it's what they didn't do properly or the officials. Stop making excuses, you lost the game 3-1.

You done okay, take your plaudits, but give me the points any day of the week.

Keane would go on to cheekily say that Manchester United were 'certs' to finish in the top four ahead of Arsenal come the end of the season.

It will be interesting to see if that does end up being the case.
