Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira had some incredible battles down through the years.
The captains and midfield generals of the two best teams in the Premier League at the turn of the century, the duels between that pair often went a long way towards deciding the destination of the title in a given season. It probably helped that they both possessed maniacal personalities and a 'win at all costs' attitude.
Quite a bit of time has passed since Keane and Vieira were rivals on the pitch, with their relationship changing quite a bit over the years. Whereas they once couldn't stand each other, the two have since regularly worked together in their role as pundits with ITV.
Despite this, you always get the sense that the competitive streak has never left them.
Patrick Vieira throws sly dig at Roy Keane on Sky Sports
Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira appeared on our television screens together once again this afternoon on Sky Sports, looking ahead to the Everton vs Manchester City and Arsenal vs Brighton.
With a double-header featuring this season's Premier League title contenders on show, it was inevitable that the conversation would quickly turn to their own experiences in such circumstances.
Vieira discussed some of his successes at Arsenal, including the occasion where they secured the title by winning against Manchester United at Old Trafford. It's fair to say Keane didn't exactly welcome the comment.

Of course it can be really sweet, especially when you go to Old Trafford and win it over there.
That would make it more special, I would say.
The game in question took place in the 2001/02 season, where a 1-0 win at Old Trafford in the penultimate game of the campaign sealed the title for Arsenal.
While Keane and Vieira have shared the television studio on a number of occasions, it's not often they are on the pitch together.
That was the case today, with the Irishman clearly fired up about stepping onto Arsenal's turn with his old rival.

Brilliant.
No matter how much time passes, these two are always going to have a little bit of needle between them.
