Man City progressed to the last 16 of the Champions League following a 1-1 draw in Germany against Borussia Monchengladbach.

City had to come from behind to get the result after the German side took the lead midway through the first half.

Centre-back John Stones was majorly at fault for the goal, being easily pushed off the ball by Lars Stindl. The Monchengladbach captain raced towards goal, playing a ball which eventually fell at the feet of Rafael who lashed the ball past Claudio Bravo.

On ITV's highlights show, Roy Keane said that Stones's effort was childlike.

It's pretty straightforward. He's got to be stronger. He's got to be tougher. It's just too easy. It's like a child getting knocked off the ball. Really poor defending.

He's got to be stronger.

Lee Dixon did offer some mitigating circumstances - Stones's arm being pulled by Stindl.

He does grab his arm but, as Roy said, at the point where you are on the pitch, you can't take a chance and go down. That pull on his arm wasn't enough to send him to the ground. He's taken a gamble thinking that the ref will see it and that he'll get the free kick. If you're last man, you can't be taking a risk like that.

Keane added that he does believe the 22-year-old to be a player of quality but perhaps, at the moment, lacking in a little bit of toughness.

He's a good player but he's just got to be tougher and stronger.
