'When I See Gibbs With The Armband... You're In Huge Trouble'

The latest in shambolic and risible Arsenal collapse came at the Allianz Arena last night, where they contrived to snatch a 5-1 humiliation from the jaws of a half-time stalemate.

Arsene Wenger lamented Arsenal's lack of mental strength after the game, as an injury to Laurent Koscielny proved the trigger for one of Arsenal's uniquely familiar implosions.

Wenger and his players have been slaughtered following a sixth consecutive last 16 first-leg defeat, and following the strong words of Dunphy, Hamann, Sadlier, and Ian Wright, Arsenal fans braced themselves for the derision of Roy Keane on ITV's highlights show.

Keane was coldly cutting on Arsenal, with his analysis simply, yet caustic. Languorously, Keane said that there is no point criticising Arsenal, as we "know they're not good enough", asking what did anyone else expect.

Arsenal have two decent players. The rest? Average.

Keane didn't leave it there. He echoed the criticisms of many others, in bemoaning Arsenal's lack of leaders. He did it in his own, unique way, however, saying that he had a bad feeling when he saw Kieran Gibbs with the captain's armband following the departure of Koscielny.

He peppered this with the usual adjectives: "schoolboy" and "shambolic" made their customary appearances.

Cutting, ruthless stuff by Roy.

And pretty much all of it is spot on.
