Liverpool have put one hand on the Premier League trophy on Sunday afternoon, defeating Manchester City 2-0 with relative ease at the Etihad.

While Arne Slot's men had given a struggling Manchester City glimpses of hope in recent weeks with uncharacteristic performances, there was nothing of the kind on Sunday.

Mo Salah made it 30 goals and 50 involvements in all competitions this season with Liverpool's first, firing his side ahead with a well-taken but ultimately rebounded shot from a corner in just the thirteenth minute.

While City fired some pop shots at Alison Becker, it was Dominik Szoboszlai who found the net next, doubling Liverpool's lead just after the half-hour mark, firing a well-worked ball past a helpless Ederson.

With a two-goal lead heading in at the break, all that was left for Liverpool was to manage the game out, and that's what they did. While they were perhaps unfortunate not to have added to their first-half tally, a three-point bounce leaving Manchester will be more than enough for Arne Slot, whose men are now eleven points clear at the top of the Premier League table with 11 games to play.

Roy Keane makes glittering Mo Salah comparison

Speaking after Liverpool's defeat of Manchester City, Irish legend Roy Keane hit the nail on the head with an obvious but key difference between Liverpool and their title chasers who are quickly running out of time to catch them.

Keane was speaking on Sky Sports Super Sunday when he gave his thoughts on Liverpool's current form, revealing unsurprisingly that one of the most impressive things about Liverpool is how their starmen show up for the side week in, week out, with the Irish legend claiming it set them apart from other sides.

Their star men turn up every week, their star men turn up every week. That's what you need, you obviously need a helping hand a long the way.

Keane doubled down on that praise of Salah in particular, hailing his consistency throughout the coverage, but more impressively comparing him to Ronaldo and Eric Cantona during their stints at Manchester United.

If you're going to be succesful at any big club you do need that world class player, you can have brilliant players around you. United you'd have Cantona, Ronaldo or Rooney, you need that one player whose almost ahead of everyone else just to get you over the line and make the difference in tight games, and Salah does that week in, week out.

Despite lingering questions from the Sky Sports panel about what Salah needed to do to win a Ballon d'Or, Keane insisted he 'was one of the best players' in Premier League history 'without a doubt' - praise which considering the calibre of player Keane thinks Salah compares to is nothing to be scoffed at.

While they may now have a strong lead on Arsenal and even more on Nottingham Forest, City and Newcastle, the latter will have a prime opportunity to close that gap next Wednesday when Liverpool welcome Eddie Howe's Newcastle to Anfield.
