Manchester United secured a dramatic FA Cup victory this evening, defeating Liverpool 4-3 after extra-time to cap off a crazy game at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag's men started the better of the two teams, creating a number of excellent chances in the opening ten minutes. Scott McTominay eventually took one of them, reacting quickest to the rebound after a decent save from Caoimhín Kelleher.

While the hosts would create a couple more chances after that, Liverpool soon started to take control of the game.

They would turn the contest on its head with two quick-fire goals at the end of the first half, with this effort from Mohamed Salah giving them the lead.

United produced some encouraging pieces of play to begin the second half, Jurgen Klopp's side remained the better side.

Just when it looked as though Liverpool were about to secure a fairly straightforward victory, there was a late twist to come.

Antony, the man who has so often disappointed this season, popped up with a dramatic equaliser to send the game to extra-time.

Manchester United pushed hard for the winner during injury time, missing a couple of big opportunities.

They were the better side early on in extra-time too, only for a huge deflection from a Harvey Elliott shot to put Liverpool back in front.

The drama wasn't over just yet.

After a sloppy ball from Darwin Nunez in midfield, Manchester United would find themselves level once again after a tidy finish from Marcus Rashford.

Somehow, that wasn't the end of the story.

In the dying moments of the match, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo would combine to win it for the home side.

It was a fitting end to a ridiculous game of football.

Roy Keane throws dig at Manchester United critics after Liverpool win

Manchester United have had a poor season overall, but they will certainly relish this result. Erik ten Hag's side were criticised for the way they played in a 0-0 draw at Anfield earlier in the season, something Roy Keane thought was unfair at the time.

Speaking on ITV after today's game, the Irishman threw a dig at those who had criticised United for the way they played in that fixture back in December.

United were criticised a couple of months ago for going to Anfield and getting a 0-0 draw for where they were.

They didn't park the bus today...

It's huge (for Erik ten Hag), you're trying to get momentum into the season. If they had lost today, especially in the second half and the way the game was going where they looked like they were going to lose the game.

You keep talking about belief, belief in terms of winning big football matches. You're at Man United to win big football matches. They've lost far too many this year and they've not turned up in the big games.

They turned up today. Hopefully that will give them belief to the players.

Manchester United look like outsiders to secure Champions League football next season, but this result will give them belief that they can go on a run in both league and cup competition before the end of the campaign.

The fact that they drew Championship club Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-finals probably won't hurt their chances of doing so.
