Liverpool secured a potentially pivotal result in the Premier League title race this afternoon, defeating Brighton on a 2-1 scoreline at Anfield.
Brighton took the lead inside the opening couple of minutes of the game, with Danny Welbeck producing a stunning finish that gave Caoimhín Kelleher no chance in goal.

However, that early blow did not seem to affect the hosts.
Liverpool played some wonderful football in the opening half, creating a number of scoring opportunities of their own. Luis Diaz eventually took one of them, meaning the two sides went into the interval level at 1-1.
While Brighton would continue to create chances in the second half, it was the home side that looked more likely to win the game.
Mohamed Salah would be the player to score the winner, finishing well after a wonderful pass from Alexis Mac Allister put him in behind the opposition defence.

This ultimately proved to be the difference between the sides.

Roy Keane praises Liverpool midfielder after Brighton win
This was a strong performance from Liverpool, with a number of excellent individual performances throughout the side. In saying that, none of them were better than Alexis Mac Allister.
Facing his former team, the Argentine midfielder was sensational in the game. He bossed the midfield both in and out of possession, also producing the key moment in the game to set up the winner.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Roy Keane lavished praise on Alexis Mac Allister and admitted how impressed he was with both him and Liverpool in this fixture.
It was brilliant, a brilliant pass from Mac Allister. He is a smart footballer, I'll you that.
I've been hugely impressed with him and his decision making. It's just when you speed things up in the final third, you can see it here with the execution and the weight of the pass.
It's a brilliant first touch from Salah, it's beautiful. It's sexy football to me this, love watching that...
That's where the senior players coming into it. Mac Allister is there and he's the brains behind everything. You've got runners and you've got energy, but you need someone with that footballing intelligence.
Then you've got a great goalscorer like Salah. What all the great goalscorers do, they're not really worried about missing. They're not happy to miss, but that's where that bravery and courage comes into it...
What impressed me about Liverpool today was that they didn't panic.
This result certainly keep Liverpool in the thick of the title race, with some massive games to come over the coming weeks.
If Alexis Mac Allister can maintain this type of form over the remainder of the season, they will be there or there abouts come the end of the season.
