Former Manchester United players Roy Keane and Gary Neville have heavily criticised Jesse Lingard for launching a clothing line in the same week as his club's big Premier League derby game against Liverpool.
Jose Mourinho takes his side to Anfield this afternoon but earlier in the week Lingard launched 'JLINGZ' a streetwear collection. However, Neville and Keane both criticised the timing of the event.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said he did not have an issue with the move but felt it was the wrong time to do it: "Before Liverpool away, in the biggest match of the season, don't launch a clothes brand. Not this week. Do it before Fulham."
Keane was in full agreement and felt it reflected poorly on the United dressing room.
If there was a good, strong dressing room that would not be tolerated. That is why I worry about the United dressing room. That wouldn't be tolerated in a good dressing room. For a young player, who is still learning his trade.
Again, he could be the nicest kid in the world, I don't know the lad. But if you are coming out with all that nonsense, people say you should have other stuff outside of football, I don't think you should! I think football should be your number one priority. It should be. Focus on the game, don't hide behind your cars, or your tattoos or your girlfriends or your agent, play the game.
"Not this week!" ?♂o@GNev2 and Roy Keane question @JesseLingard's decision to launch a clothing line ahead of this week's clash with @LFC, saying football should be his only focus. ⚽
